Kankakee County’s New Stormwater Ordinance a Step Toward Sustainble Growth
May 15, 2006 Kankakee County’s new ordinance for stormwater and erosion control will improve water quality, protect valuable resources, and encourage cooperation between municipalities. The ordinance details prohibited actions, discharge requirements, permitting, variances, and appeal processes, and is consistent with a federal initiative to mitigate the effects of construction and industry on the nation’s water supply. The ordinance goes into effect on August 1st for unincorporated areas of the county.
